Preview 2020 medical and dental plans at Your Health Idaho
Adult vision coverage, enhanced shopping experience new for 2020
BOISE, Idaho – Beginning October 1, Idahoans can preview 2020 medical and dental insurance plans available through Your Health Idaho, the state health insurance exchange. At YourHealthIdaho.org, Idahoans can view plans side-by-side to compare important features like deductibles, co-pays, provider networks, and monthly premiums. Recent enhancements to the shopping experience give consumers the ability to compare 2020 plans against their current enrollment, as well as search for plans by provider and prescription drug coverage.
“Finding the right insurance coverage can be an overwhelming process. By taking the time to preview plans and understand their coverage needs, Idahoans can make an informed decision that suits their lifestyle and budget,” said Pat Kelly, Your Health Idaho executive director.
For Idahoans who are unsure about navigating the enrollment process, Your Health Idaho recommends working with an agent or broker. These experts are certified by Your Health Idaho and their services are available for free. To find free help in your area, visit YourHealthIdaho.org/find-help.
As of October 1, Idahoans will have even more options when it comes to health insurance as Your Health Idaho now offers adult vision coverage. Consumers can choose between two different plans and a wide range of benefits offered by VSP, one of the nation’s largest vision insurance companies. Idahoans interested in learning more can visit YourHealthIdaho.org/vision-coverage.
“With the addition of vision coverage and a record 308 medical and dental plans to choose from in 2020, there’s never been a better time to shop for health insurance, especially when nine out of ten Idahoans enrolled with Your Health Idaho save up to 80 percent on their monthly premiums with a tax credit,” said Kelly.
The open enrollment period for 2020 health insurance coverage is November 1 – December 16, 2019. Unique to the 2020 enrollment year, Idahoans should be aware of possible changes in eligibility due to Medicaid expansion. Under expanded Medicaid, approximately 18,000 Idahoans currently enrolled with Your Health Idaho will be newly eligible for Medicaid coverage beginning January 1, 2020.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare determines both Medicaid and tax credit eligibility and will notify affected Idahoans prior to November 1. More information about Medicaid expansion, tax credit eligibility, and other assistance programs can be found at LiveBetterIdaho.org.
