You Chose a Plan, Now What?
You compared the plans, talked to your insurance agent, and selected the health insurance coverage that’s right for you and your lifestyle. Congratulations and welcome to Your Health Idaho!
Now, here are a few things you should know about your health insurance coverage.
- Your plan selection is not considered active final until you make your first monthly premium payment. Your Health Idaho does not process premium payments. Instead you will make your monthly premium payments directly to your insurance carrier.
- If the Department of Health and Welfare approves your tax credits, you may choose how much or how little of your Advanced Premium Tax Credit (APTC) is applied to your monthly premium.
- All plans purchased through Your Health Idaho must cover the ten essential health benefits as required by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). However, before you use your coverage, it is important to make sure your preferred doctor or facility is in your network. To confirm your doctor or prescription coverage is included or in network, contact your insurance carrier directly.
- Any changes to your household size or financial situation should be reported immediately as these changes can affect your tax credit and eligibility. Visit the Report a Change page for more information.
- After Open Enrollment ends, you cannot switch plans unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) like getting married or having a baby. If you do experience a QLE, you can make changes to your coverage with a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
