There are two windows of time you can actively apply for a tax credit, shop and enroll in coverage through Your Health Idaho:

  • During Open Enrollment 
  • When you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period

What is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment takes place yearly from October 15 to December 15. During Open Enrollment, Idahoans can apply for a tax credit and enroll in a health insurance plan for the coming year. Idahoans already enrolled with Your Health Idaho can make changes or renew their coverage for the next year.

What is a Special Enrollment Period?

Outside of the Open Enrollment window, you can only apply for a tax credit and enroll in or make changes to your health insurance coverage with a Special Enrollment Period. You must experience a Qualifying Life Event to qualify for a Special Enrollment Period,

Look at plans, and estimate your tax credit at any time.


Enroll in your

perfect plan

Coverage will begin on your policy’s effective date. You must submit your first payment for enrollment to be finalized. Learn more on your individual carrier’s website.

Your Health Idaho is the only place Idahoans can apply for and receive a tax credit to help lower the cost of their monthly health insurance premiums. Some Idahoans may also qualify for Cost-Sharing Reductions when they enroll in a Silver Tier plan, which lowers out-of-pocket costs for things like co-pays and prescriptions.
