Open Enrollment Starts Nov. 1, What Does That Mean for New Customers?

You’ve probably heard by now, Open Enrollment for health insurance is right around the corner! But if you’re one of the many Idahoans who have found themselves without coverage for the first time in 2020, it can be an overwhelming experience trying to weigh the options. Your Health Idaho is here to help.

What is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment is the period of time, typically Nov. 1, through Dec. 15, when individuals and families can enroll in a health insurance plan through Your Health Idaho. It is the only time of year potential customers can enroll without a Qualifying Life Event (QLE), like getting married or having a baby.

During the open enrollment period, first-time customers can browse YHI plans anonymously, create an account, apply for financial assistance with the Department of Health and Welfare, and enroll in a plan for 2021.

Why Enroll with Your Health Idaho?

Your Health Idaho is the only place where Idahoans can receive a health insurance tax credit, which acts like an instant discount, to reduce the cost of monthly premiums. Individuals and families who fall within a certain income range may also qualify for cost-sharing reductions that help pay for out-of-pocket costs like co-pays and deductibles.

YHI also has resources available to American Indians and Alaska Natives. Read more about YHI benefits for American Indians and Alaska Natives here.
