Do I Qualify for a Special Enrollment Period with Your Health Idaho?

If you experience certain Qualifying Life Events – like moving or having a baby – you could be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period which allows individuals and families to enroll in health insurance coverage outside of Open Enrollment. If you are already enrolled with Your Health Idaho, a Special Enrollment Period would allow you to make changes to your existing insurance plan. Qualifying Life Event that might be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period, you have 60 days from the date of your event to complete the following:

  1. Report your Qualifying Life Event.
  2. Provide documentation to prove the event and eligibility.
  3. Select a plan and enroll

Special Enrollment Period’s Qualifying Life Events.

The Qualifying Life Events listed below could be eligible for a s Special Enrollment Period.

Loss of Health Coverage
To qualify as a loss of coverage, you mus lose health insurance that provided minimum essential coverage(MEC). This can include aging off of a parent or guardian’s insurance of losing employer coverage.

Change in Household Size
Your family size and demographics can affect your eligibility for insurance. Examples of a change in household size include gaining a dependent, by birth, adoption, or getting married/divorced.

Change of Address
If you are new to Idaho or move within the state, your household could be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period. Please note, not all moves in state will result in a Special Enrollment Period.

Change in Financial Status
Changes in household income can qualify for a Special Enrollment Period and allow you to enroll in coverage, change plans, or apply newly received tax credits.

Special Circumstances
Exceptional circumstances can impact your insurance coverage and access to enrollment resources. Some examples include newly documented American Indian or Alaskan Native Tribal Status, or gaining U.S. citizenship, legal presence, or refugee status.
